Tasks taken up for the people of Azeroth, told in their own words.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Forsaken at Deathknell

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me with a grim line about how no race has suffered as our people have, and how laughing at death has become second nature. I finished The Mindless Ones for him. He allowed that it was unfortunate the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful, but said we have no choice but to destroy them.

He then set me a harder task, Rattling the Rattlecages. He said the skeletons are a tougher foe than the zombies, and that I must thin twelve of them, then return to him. Only one has fallen so far. He also handed me a scroll that had arrived while I was away, bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and went to the inn to find him, and so finished Encrypted Scroll. Trias said he spends most of his time in the inn watching for new faces and promising talent. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a thing or two.

Novice Elreth gave me a third request, The Damned. She tends the wounded, tailors armor and helps Sarvis with whatever he needs. She guessed I'd been enlisted in his service. If I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she'll find armor for me. She said the wolves and bats lie to the south. I have not yet gone looking.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Blood in Deathknell's Shadow

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me with a reminder that no other race on Azeroth has suffered as ours has. "To laugh in the face of death," he said, "has become second nature for all of us." Then he marked "The Mindless Ones" as finished. He admitted it is unfortunate that the Scourge cannot be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful in the battles ahead. They will not join us, so we have no choice but to destroy them.

He had more for me at once. In "Rattling the Rattlecages" I am to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons and return to him. He called them a tougher foe than the zombies, the Lich King's mindless minions, and wants to see me under pressure. One has fallen to me so far. Eleven remain.

He also handed me an Encrypted Scroll that had arrived while I was out among the mindless. It bore the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I carried it to him at the inn, and he finished the matter with a few easy words. He spends most of his time there watching for new faces and keeping tabs on up-and-coming prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things.

Novice Elreth has a request of her own, "The Damned." She tends the wounded, tailors armor and clothes, and helps Sarvis with whatever else he needs. She guessed I would soon be enlisted in his service, hunting the Mindless Ones. If I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she will find me armor. She says there are wolves and bats in good number to the south. I have not yet gone looking.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Deathknell Dead

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me by calling my people the most wounded on Azeroth, and said we have learned to laugh in the face of death. When I finished his task, The Mindless Ones, he said it was a pity the Scourge cannot be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful, but that we have no choice but to destroy them.

He gave me two more matters. The first is Rattling the Rattlecages: I am to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons, tougher foes than the zombies, and then return to him. I have felled just one so far. The second was a scroll that arrived while I was out, bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and took it to him, and so that task is done too. Trias said he watches for new faces from the inn and will teach me a few things whenever I return.

Novice Elreth also asked for my help. She is running short of paws and wings, and if I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she will find me armor. She said I would find wolves and bats to the south.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Deathknell Dead

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me as "rogue" and said no other race has suffered as much as ours, and that laughing in the face of death has become second nature to us. When I finished The Mindless Ones, he said it was unfortunate the Scourge cannot be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful, but they will not join us, so we must destroy them.

He had more for me at once. In Rattling the Rattlecages he wants twelve of the skeletons thinned out, tougher foes than the zombies, to see how I fare under pressure. I have only begun that count. He also gave me an encrypted scroll that had arrived while I was among the zombies, bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and went to find him, and that task was done. Trias said he spends most of his time in the inn watching for new faces and up-and-coming prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things, and I may return whenever I wish to see if I am ready for a new skill or two.

Novice Elreth gave me a third request, The Damned. She tends the wounded, tailors armor and clothes, and helps Sarvis however he needs. She is running short of paws and wings, and if I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she will find me some armor. Wolves and bats, she said, are to be found to the south.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Zombies of Deathknell

Shadow Priest Sarvis was pleased enough with my work against the zombies. I finished "The Mindless Ones" for him, and he said it was unfortunate the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful, but that they would not join us and so we must destroy them.

He gave me two more tasks. The first is "Rattling the Rattlecages": I am to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons, which he calls a tougher foe than the zombies, and then return to him. Trias said he spends most of his time there watching for new faces and up-and-coming prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things, and I may come back whenever I wish.

Novice Elreth also asked something of me, a task called "The Damned." She tends the wounded and sews armor, and she will find me armor if I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, which I will find to the south among the wolves and bats. I have not begun it.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Deathknell Dead

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me as rogue and spoke of how no other people have suffered as our own. When I finished The Mindless Ones, he admitted it was unfortunate that the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful, but said there was no choice but to destroy them.

He had more for me at once. He asked me to prove myself under pressure by killing twelve Rattlecage Skeletons, then return to him. He also handed me an encrypted scroll that had arrived while I was away, bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I took it to Trias at the inn and the matter was settled. He said he spends most of his time there watching for new faces and sizing up prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things whenever I return.

Novice Elreth asked for my help too. She tends the wounded, tailors armor and clothes, and helps Sarvis with whatever he needs. She is running short of paws and wings and wants six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings. In return she will find armor for me. The wolves and bats, she said, are to the south.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Blood in Deathknell

I finished "The Mindless Ones" for Shadow Priest Sarvis. He said it was unfortunate that the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful in the battles ahead, but that they would not join us, so we had no choice but to destroy them.

He gave me more work at once. In "Rattling the Rattlecages" he wants twelve Rattlecage Skeletons thinned out. He called them a tougher foe than the zombies, and said I had shown my potential under normal circumstances and now must show it under pressure. Only one has fallen so far.

Sarvis also handed me an Encrypted Scroll that had arrived while I was out. It bore the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and took it to him in the inn, and so "Encrypted Scroll" was done. David said he spends most of his time there watching for new faces and up-and-coming prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things whenever I return.

Novice Elreth gave me a third task, "The Damned". She tends the wounded, tailors armor and helps Sarvis however he needs. She guessed I would be enlisted in his service, hunting the Mindless Ones. She offered to find me armor if I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings from the wolves and bats to the south. I have not started on it.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Zombies of Deathknell

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me with a grim comfort, saying no race has suffered as ours, and that laughing in the face of death has become second nature to us. I finished The Mindless Ones for him. He lamented that the Scourge cannot be brought into the fold, since their numbers would serve us, but said that since they will not join us, we have no choice but to destroy them.

He then gave me two more requests. The first is Rattling the Rattlecages, to kill twelve of the skeletons, which he calls a tougher foe than the zombies, and to return to him afterward. The second was a sealed scroll, Encrypted Scroll, that had arrived for me bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and carried it to him in the inn, and the task was done. Trias said he spends most of his time there watching for new faces and sizing up prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things whenever I return.

Novice Elreth also asked something of me, in a task called The Damned. She tends the wounded and tailors armor and clothes, and she wants six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, which she says I will find from the wolves and bats to the south. In return she will find armor for me. I have not yet begun on it.

He said it was unfortunate that the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, but since they would not join us, there was no choice but to destroy them.

He then set me two more tasks. The first is Rattling the Rattlecages, which asks me to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons and return to him. He called them a tougher foe than the zombies and told me not to tarry. The second was an Encrypted Scroll that had arrived for me while I was away. It bore the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias, and Sarvis advised me to read it before heading out again.

Novice Elreth gave me a task of her own, The Damned. She tends the wounded and tailors armor, and she guessed I would soon be hunting the Mindless Ones. She asked for six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, and in return she will find me armor. The wolves and bats, she said, are to the south.

I read the scroll and took it to David Trias, which finished that task. He told me he spends most of his time in the inn watching for new faces and keeping tabs on up-and-coming prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things whenever I return.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Deathknell Dead

Shadow Priest Sarvis was satisfied with my work on "The Mindless Ones." He said it was unfortunate that the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful, but they will not join us, so we have no choice but to destroy them.

He gave me three more requests in the same hour. The first is "Rattling the Rattlecages": I am to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons and return to him. He wants to see me "under pressure," and warns that they are tougher than the zombies. The second was a scroll that arrived for me while I was away, bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and carried it to him, and that task is done. David Trias said he spends most of his time in the inn watching for new faces and up-and-coming prospects. He told me to keep my nose clean, and said to come back whenever I wished to learn a skill or two.

The third came from Novice Elreth, who tends the wounded and tailors armor. She asked for six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, which she says lie to the south among the wolves and bats. In return she will find armor for me. I have not begun that task.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Forsaken at Deathknell

I finished "The Mindless Ones" for Shadow Priest Sarvis. He said it was unfortunate that the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, for their large numbers would be useful in the battles ahead. But they will not join us, so we have no choice but to destroy them.

He did not let me rest. He gave me "Rattling the Rattlecages," which asks me to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons and return to him. Their masters are the Lich King's minions, and he wants to see me "under pressure." He also handed me an encrypted scroll that had arrived while I was out among the zombies. It bore the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias, and Sarvis suggested I read it before heading out again.

I read it and went to David Trias, and so finished "Encrypted Scroll." He said he spends most of his time in the inn watching for new faces and keeping tabs on up-and-coming prospects. She is running out of paws and wings, and wants six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings. If I bring them, she will find armor for me. She says there are plenty of wolves and bats to the south.

Day 2 · October 16, 2026

First Steps Among the Deathknell Dead

Novice Elreth also gave me a task, which she called "The Damned." She tends the wounded, tailors armor and helps Sarvis with whatever he needs. She guessed I would be enlisted in his service hunting the Mindless Ones. She is running low on paws and wings, and if I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she will find armor for me. She said the wolves and bats are to the south.

If I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she will find armor for me. She says wolves and bats are plentiful to the south.

Day 1 · September 28, 2026

Waking Cold in Deathknell

Undertaker Mordo gave me my first request. He said it was "About time you woke up," and told me I was the Lich King's slave no more. He sent me to Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill. Sarvis took my report and said I was another of the walking dead, and he explained that Lady Sylvanas had freed us from the Lich King. That finished Rude Awakening.

Sarvis then set me to The Mindless Ones. The northern part of the village is overrun, and he wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies destroyed, with no mercy. The Fallen are nothing but the Lich King's slaves, he said. I have only begun.
