Waking in the Crypt at Deathknell
I woke among the dead as the Lich King's slave no more, and by morning's end I had my first task, my first kills, and a purpose.
The Road
Dawn light lay over Tirisfal Glades when I first took in the sight of Shadow Grave, and I stood a moment and simply looked. Soon after I came down to Deathknell, still in the pale early light, and the place was set in my mind.
Battles
The northern part of the village is overrun with the Mindless Ones, and I went at them. Before the day ended I had put down four Mindless Zombies and a Wretched Zombie, and a Young Scavenger fell to me as well. It is a grim thing to strike at what were once our own kind, but they are nothing now but the Lich King's leavings. There is more of that work waiting.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me my first task, Rude Awakening. "About time you woke up," he said, and told me they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others. He is the caretaker of the crypt, and he told me I was the Lich King's slave no more. He sent me to Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.
Sarvis called me one more of the walking dead, and said waking in the crypt must have been a shock. He explained that Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, has freed us from the Lich King's control, and that we now fight the Scourge and the humans who dog our steps. That finished the task. He then gave me another, The Mindless Ones. He wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies destroyed, with no mercy shown. I have only begun on that count.
Fellowship
In the chapel I met a few of my own kind. Sarvis greeted me as a rogue and said we have all learned to laugh in the face of death. David Trias spoke of the Deathstalkers, whose numbers grow with Lord Varimathras's sanction, more blades to strike at our enemies when they least expect it. Margaret Weaver spoke to me in a tongue I could not follow.
Growth
My dagger work is sharper for the day's fighting. My skill with daggers has risen to 5.
