First Steps Among the Deathknell Dead

A new Forsaken rogue cuts down a dozen of the Scourge's mindless wanderers and receives a sealed scroll from the Deathstalkers.

The Road

The day began at midday in Deathknell, in the Tirisfal Glades, and I never left it. The place is where my second life has begun, and I spent every hour within its bounds.

Battles

Twelve of the Scourge's mindless dead fell to me today: seven Wretched Zombies, four Mindless Zombies and a single Rattlecage Skeleton. The zombies came first, a few at a time. Later I met the skeleton, which is the kind Shadow Priest Sarvis called a tougher foe than the zombies. I walked away from every fight.

Deeds

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me with the words that "no other race on Azeroth has suffered as much as our people, rogue." When I finished hunting the Mindless Ones, he admitted it was unfortunate that the Scourge could not be brought into the fold. Their numbers would have been useful, but they will not join us, so we must destroy them.

He then set me two more tasks. The first is to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons and return to him, to prove myself "under pressure." The second was a scroll that had arrived for me while I was out, bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and went to find him. David Trias said he spends most of his time in the inn, watching for new faces and keeping tabs on up-and-coming prospects. He told me to keep my nose clean, and said I should come back whenever I want to learn a skill or two.

Novice Elreth also gave me a task, which she called "The Damned." She tends the wounded, tailors armor and helps Sarvis with whatever he needs. She guessed I would be enlisted in his service hunting the Mindless Ones. She is running low on paws and wings, and if I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she will find armor for me. She said the wolves and bats are to the south.

Fellowship

I spoke with three people in Deathknell today: Shadow Priest Sarvis, Novice Elreth and David Trias. They are all Forsaken, and all of them seem to expect something from me.

Growth

I felt new strength settle into me early in the day when I grew stronger, and it was a good moment to stop and take in the view. My skill at defending myself also improved a little. Later, after the fighting, my skill with daggers improved too. I am still new at this, but it is a start.
