Waking Among the Dead at Deathknell
A rogue wakes in Shadow Grave, hears the Forsaken's cause, and sets dagger to the Mindless Ones of Deathknell.
The Road
The day began at dawn in Shadow Grave, in the Tirisfal Glades. I stopped a moment to take in the view, the cold light thin over a place I had no memory of arriving at. Then I made my way to Deathknell, a village I had never seen, and found it waiting for me.
Battles
The northern part of Deathknell is overrun, and I did my part to thin it. Six foes fell to my daggers: four Mindless Zombies, one Wretched Zombie, and a Young Scavenger. It was only a beginning, but my hands grew steadier with each one.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me my first request, called Rude Awakening. "About time you woke up," he said, and told me I was the Lich King's slave no more. He sent me to Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill. Sarvis greeted me as a rogue and spoke of how the Forsaken have learned to laugh in the face of death. When I reported to him, he named me another of the walking dead and explained that Lady Sylvanas had freed us from the Lich King's control, and that the Dark Lady leads us against the Scourge and the humans who dog our steps. That finished the task.
He then set me another, The Mindless Ones. Sarvis wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies destroyed, with no mercy shown to our former brothers and sisters. I have felled four of the first and one of the second, so the work is far from done.
Fellowship
In the chapel I met David Trias, who spoke of the Deathstalkers growing in number with Lord Varimathras's sanction, more blades to strike at our enemies when they least expect it. Margaret Weaver spoke to me too, in a tongue I could not follow at all.
Growth
My skill with daggers rose to 5. It is a small gain, but I felt it in my grip.
