Waking Among the Dead at Deathknell

A new Forsaken rogue claws free of the crypt, meets the caretaker and the priest, and takes first blood against the mindless dead.

The Road

The day began at Shadow Grave in Tirisfal Glades, the light of dawn thin and grey over everything. I stopped a moment to take in the view, and the place settled into my memory. Not long after, I came to Deathknell, still under the same pale dawn, and learned its name as I walked in.

Battles

Once I had my instructions, I went after the Mindless Ones. By the end of the day, six of the dead and wild things had fallen to my blades: four Mindless Zombies, one Wretched Zombie, and a Young Scavenger. It was not much, but it was a start. My hands were learning their work.

Deeds

Undertaker Mordo gave me my first task, Rude Awakening. He said it was "about time you woke up," that they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others, and that I was the Lich King's slave no more. He told me to speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill. I did, and the task was done.

Sarvis explained our situation. We have been freed from the Lich King by Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, who guides us in the war against the Scourge and the holdouts of humanity. Then he gave me a new charge, The Mindless Ones. The northern part of the village is overrun, and he wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies destroyed, with no mercy shown. I have not finished it yet. Four of the one kind and one of the other are down.

Fellowship

The chapel had a few voices in it. Sarvis greeted me as a rogue and said that to laugh in the face of death had become second nature to all of us. David Trias spoke of the Deathstalkers growing in number under the sanction of Lord Varimathras, more blades to strike at our enemies when they least expect it. Margaret Weaver spoke to me in a tongue I could not follow, and I stood there understanding none of it.

Growth

My skill with daggers rose to 5. It is a small gain, but I felt the blade sit more easily in my grip.
