First Blood in Deathknell

A fresh Forsaken rogue cuts down a dozen of the Scourge's mindless dead and finds a sealed scroll waiting from the rogue trainer.

The Road

Deathknell, in the Tirisfal Glades, was where the day began and ended. The midday light there was thin and grey, and I never left the little settlement's bounds.

Battles

Twelve of the Scourge's mindless dead fell to my blades today: seven Wretched Zombies, four Mindless Zombies and one Rattlecage Skeleton. The first handful went down early, two Mindless Zombies and a Wretched Zombie, and the rest came after I had spoken with Sarvis. My arms ached by the end, but the work grew steadier as it went. I felt my skill at defense sharpen as I took blows, and my dagger work improved with all the stabbing.

Deeds

I finished "The Mindless Ones" for Shadow Priest Sarvis. He said it was unfortunate that the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful in the battles ahead, but that they would not join us, so we had no choice but to destroy them.

He gave me more work at once. In "Rattling the Rattlecages" he wants twelve Rattlecage Skeletons thinned out. He called them a tougher foe than the zombies, and said I had shown my potential under normal circumstances and now must show it under pressure. Only one has fallen so far.

Sarvis also handed me an Encrypted Scroll that had arrived while I was out. It bore the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and took it to him in the inn, and so "Encrypted Scroll" was done. David said he spends most of his time there watching for new faces and up-and-coming prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things whenever I return.

Novice Elreth gave me a third task, "The Damned". She tends the wounded, tailors armor and helps Sarvis however he needs. She guessed I would be enlisted in his service, hunting the Mindless Ones. She offered to find me armor if I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings from the wolves and bats to the south. I have not started on it.

Fellowship

Sarvis greeted me as a rogue and said no other race on Azeroth has suffered as much as our people, and that laughing in the face of death has become second nature to us. David Trias greeted me with talk of Lord Varimathras's sanction and the growing numbers of the Deathstalkers, more blades to strike our enemies when they least expect it.

Growth

A new strength settled into me early in the day, and I felt myself grow stronger. My defense rose to 5 and my skill with daggers to 10. David Trias says I can return when I want to see whether I am ready for a skill or two.
