First Steps Among the Forsaken at Deathknell
A new rogue cuts down a dozen mindless Scourge in Deathknell, answers a sealed summons from the rogue trainer, and leaves with fresh orders.
The Road
Deathknell, in the Tirisfal Glades, was where the day began, under a midday sky. I spent all of it there, in and around the little settlement of the Forsaken, and I returned to it when I came back to my work later on.
Battles
The Scourge came at me in numbers, and I answered in kind. By day's end I had put down twelve of them: seven Wretched Zombies, four Mindless Zombies and one Rattlecage Skeleton. The zombies came first, shambling and witless. The lone skeleton came later, a small taste of what Sarvis says is a tougher foe. My arms were tired and my blades were busy, but I did not fall.
Deeds
I finished "The Mindless Ones" for Shadow Priest Sarvis. He said it was unfortunate that the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, for their large numbers would be useful in the battles ahead. But they will not join us, so we have no choice but to destroy them.
He did not let me rest. He gave me "Rattling the Rattlecages," which asks me to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons and return to him. Their masters are the Lich King's minions, and he wants to see me "under pressure." He also handed me an encrypted scroll that had arrived while I was out among the zombies. It bore the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias, and Sarvis suggested I read it before heading out again.
I read it and went to David Trias, and so finished "Encrypted Scroll." He said he spends most of his time in the inn watching for new faces and keeping tabs on up-and-coming prospects. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a few things, and I may return whenever I wish to see if I am ready for a new skill or two.
Novice Elreth also gave me a request, "The Damned." She tends the wounded, tailors armor and clothes, and helps Sarvis with whatever else he needs. She is running out of paws and wings, and wants six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings. If I bring them, she will find armor for me. She says there are plenty of wolves and bats to the south.
Fellowship
Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me as "rogue." He said no other race on Azeroth has suffered as much as our people, and that laughing in the face of death has become second nature to us. David Trias welcomed me too. He said the Deathstalkers' numbers grow with the sanction of Lord Varimathras, so there are more blades to strike at our enemies when they least expect it.
Growth
A new strength settled into me early in the day, and I felt myself grow stronger. My skill at turning aside blows improved, and later my skill with daggers sharpened too.
