Waking in the Crypt at Deathknell
A new Forsaken rogue rises from the crypt, learns who freed the dead, and takes first blades to the zombies overrunning Deathknell.
The Road
The dawn light over Tirisfal Glades was thin and cold when I first took in Shadow Grave. I stood a moment and simply looked at it before moving on. Not long after, I reached Deathknell, the little village with its crypt and chapel at the base of the hill.
Battles
The northern part of the village was overrun with the Mindless Ones, and I went at them with my daggers. By the end of the short day I had put down four Mindless Zombies and one Wretched Zombie, and a Young Scavenger had fallen to me as well. Eight of each kind of zombie are still wanted, so the work is far from done.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me my first request, and he was gruff about it: "About time you woke up." He said they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others, but I had made it. He told me I was the Lich King's slave no more and sent me to Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.
Sarvis explained our situation. The Forsaken have been freed from the Lich King by Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, who leads them in the war against the Scourge and the humans who dog their steps. That finished my task, which was called Rude Awakening. He then gave me a new one, The Mindless Ones. It asks me to destroy eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies, and to show them no mercy, "our former brothers and sisters as they might be."
Fellowship
In the chapel, Sarvis greeted me as rogue and said that to laugh in the face of death had become second nature to all of them. David Trias spoke of the Deathstalkers growing in number with the sanction of Lord Varimathras, more blades to strike at our enemies when they least expect it. Margaret Weaver spoke to me in a tongue I couldn't follow.
Growth
My daggers are growing surer in my hands. My skill with them rose to 5.
