Waking in the Crypt of Deathknell
A newly risen rogue finds Mordo's crypt, Sarvis's chapel, and the first Mindless Ones to put down in the cold dawn of Tirisfal.
The Road
The dawn was pale over Tirisfal Glades when I first took in the view at Shadow Grave. I paused there a moment, simply to look. Then I made my way to Deathknell, a small huddle of a village under the same grey morning light.
Battles
The northern part of the village is overrun, and I went to meet the problem blade first. Six fell to me in all: four Mindless Zombies, one Wretched Zombie, and a Young Scavenger. It was short work, but I am new to this body and to this trade, and every strike taught me something.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me the first task, Rude Awakening. He said it was about time I woke up, that they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others, and that I was the Lich King's slave no more. He sent me to Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.
Sarvis greeted me as a rogue and said that to laugh in the face of death had become second nature to our people. When I reported to him, the task was done. He explained our situation: the Forsaken have been freed from the Lich King by Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, and now war against the Scourge and the holdouts of humanity.
He then gave me a new request, The Mindless Ones. I am to destroy eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies, and show them no mercy. Five of those are behind me. Many remain.
Fellowship
In the chapel I met David Trias, who spoke of the Deathstalkers growing in number with Lord Varimathras's sanction, and of more blades to strike our enemies when they least expect it. Margaret Weaver also spoke to me, but in a tongue I could not follow.
Growth
My skill with daggers rose to 5. It is a small thing, but my grip feels surer.
