Waking Among the Dead at Deathknell
A rogue wakes free of the Lich King's grip, learns what the Forsaken are, and takes first blood against the Mindless Ones.
The Road
The dawn light found me at Shadow Grave, and I paused there a while to take in the view. It was a cold, strange place to begin again. Not long after, I came down to Deathknell, still under the pale dawn, and the little village became my first footing in Tirisfal Glades.
Battles
Before the day was done I had put six foes in the dirt: four Mindless Zombies, one Wretched Zombie, and a Young Scavenger. They were small fights, but each one taught my hands a bit more about the blade.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me my first task, Rude Awakening. He was blunt: "About time you woke up." He told me they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others, and that I was the Lich King's slave no more. He sent me to speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.
Sarvis took my report and explained our situation. We Forsaken have been freed from the Lich King by Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, who leads us in the war against the Scourge and the living humans who dog our steps. Then he set me a new task, The Mindless Ones. The north of the village is overrun, and he wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies destroyed, with no mercy shown. I have only begun on that count.
Fellowship
In the chapel I met David Trias, who spoke of the Deathstalkers growing in number under Lord Varimathras's sanction. Margaret Weaver also greeted me, in a tongue I could not follow at all. It was a stream of strange words that left me nodding like a fool.
Growth
My skill with daggers rose to 5. It is a small thing, but I felt it in my grip.
