First Steps Among the Forsaken at Deathknell

Twelve of the mindless dead fell to my blades in Deathknell, and a sealed scroll from the rogue trainer promised I'd be taught more.

Reached level 2

The Road

Deathknell, in the Tirisfal Glades, was where the day found me, under a midday sky. I came to it twice, once in the first short stretch and again after a pause, and both times I stayed within the village and the ground around it.

Battles

The dead were everywhere, and I put a good many of them down again. All told, twelve fell to me: seven Wretched Zombies, four Mindless Zombies and a single Rattlecage Skeleton. The first stretch cost me a few zombies, and the second was the busier one, with more zombies and the first skeleton. My arms felt the work, and I got a little better at turning blows aside.

Deeds

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me with a grim line about how no race has suffered as our people have, and how laughing at death has become second nature. I finished The Mindless Ones for him. He allowed that it was unfortunate the Scourge could not be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful, but said we have no choice but to destroy them.

He then set me a harder task, Rattling the Rattlecages. He said the skeletons are a tougher foe than the zombies, and that I must thin twelve of them, then return to him. Only one has fallen so far. He also handed me a scroll that had arrived while I was away, bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and went to the inn to find him, and so finished Encrypted Scroll. Trias said he spends most of his time in the inn watching for new faces and promising talent. If I keep my nose clean, he will teach me a thing or two.

Novice Elreth gave me a third request, The Damned. She tends the wounded, tailors armor and helps Sarvis with whatever he needs. She guessed I'd been enlisted in his service. If I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she'll find armor for me. She said the wolves and bats lie to the south. I have not yet gone looking.

Fellowship

I spoke with three of the Forsaken today: Shadow Priest Sarvis, Novice Elreth and David Trias, the rogue trainer. Trias welcomed me among the Deathstalkers, whose numbers grow with Lord Varimathras's sanction. He called them more blades to strike at our enemies when they least expect it. I liked the sound of that.

Growth

A new strength settled into me early in the day, and I stood a moment to take it in. I was stronger than I had been. My defense improved a little, and later my skill with daggers did too. Trias said to come back whenever I want, and we will see if I'm ready for a skill or two.
