First Steps Among the Deathknell Dead

A new Forsaken rogue cuts down a dozen of the Scourge's mindless, answers a sealed summons, and meets the trainer who will sharpen his blades.

The Road

Deathknell was all I saw today, and midday light lay thin over the Tirisfal Glades. I came and went from that little settlement twice, and each time the damp air and the groaning of the dead around it felt a bit more like home.

Battles

Twelve of the Scourge fell to my blades today: seven Wretched Zombies, four Mindless Zombies and one Rattlecage Skeleton. The zombies came shambling, slow and witless, and I learned to meet them with steady cuts. In the first of my fights I caught a few blows and my skill at turning them aside grew sharper for it. Later my dagger-work improved with all the practice.

Deeds

Shadow Priest Sarvis greeted me by calling my people the most wounded on Azeroth, and said we have learned to laugh in the face of death. When I finished his task, The Mindless Ones, he said it was a pity the Scourge cannot be brought into the fold, since their numbers would be useful, but that we have no choice but to destroy them.

He gave me two more matters. The first is Rattling the Rattlecages: I am to kill twelve Rattlecage Skeletons, tougher foes than the zombies, and then return to him. I have felled just one so far. The second was a scroll that arrived while I was out, bearing the seal of the rogue trainer David Trias. I read it and took it to him, and so that task is done too. Trias said he watches for new faces from the inn and will teach me a few things whenever I return.

Novice Elreth also asked for my help. She is running short of paws and wings, and if I bring her six Scavenger Paws and six Duskbat Wings, she will find me armor. She said I would find wolves and bats to the south.

Fellowship

I spoke with three of the Forsaken today, all of them in Deathknell. Shadow Priest Sarvis set my tasks, Novice Elreth asked for her paws and wings, and David Trias welcomed me.

"With the sanction of Lord Varimathras, the Deathstalkers' numbers grow. More blades to strike at our enemies when they least expect it."

That is how Trias greeted me. I took it as a place offered among the Deathstalkers.

Growth

I felt a new strength settle into me early in the day, and I stopped for a moment to take it in. My skill at defense rose, and later my dagger-work grew nearer to what I need. David Trias says he will teach me a skill or two when I am ready.
