Tasks taken up for the people of Azeroth, told in their own words.

Day 3 · October 21, 2026

Five Falls in the Duskwood Gloom

In Brill, Apothecary Johaan handed me a pumpkin laced with his latest formula, meant for a Scarlet Zealot held in the cellar of the Gallows' End Tavern. "Harmless pumpkins, right?" he said. I delivered it, and the zealot cried out, "Sweet, sweet pumpkin," and then, a moment later, that his mind and flesh were rotting. I will not soon forget it. That task, Fields of Grief, is done.

In Duskwood I completed An Unfortunate End for the Night Watch Guard. A Night Watchman lay dead, covered in deep gashes, plainly mauled by some large beast. I pried an unlit torch from his stiff fingers.

I also took on many requests in Brill and left them unfinished. Executor Zygand asked me to slay ten Scarlet Warriors, to collect reports from his Deathguards, and to punish five of them for their failings. Apothecary Johaan wants five vials of darkhound blood for his new plague. Carolai Anise wants eight bottles of Whispering Elixir from Shadowvale. Magistrate Sevren wants eight Embalming Ichors taken from the Rot Hide gnolls.

Day 3 · October 21, 2026

Pumpkins, Zeppelins, and Five Falls into Darkness

In Brill, Executor Zygand loaded me with work. In his dry way he asked me to slay 10 Scarlet Warriors to prove my service to the Dark Lady, and to gather the reports of his overdue Deathguards (Dillinger, Kristof, and the abomination Gordo), and he told me to punish five Deathguards, threatening to add my name to his ledger if I dawdled. Apothecary Johaan wanted 5 vials of darkhound blood for his new plague. Carolai Anise, glad of a friendly face, asked me to bring 8 bottles of Whispering Elixir from the ruins of Shadowvale. Magistrate Sevren asked me to cut down the Rot Hide gnolls at the Mass Graves and Garren's Haunt and bring back 8 Embalming Ichors. All of these I took up and have yet to finish.

One task I did finish. Johaan gave me a laced pumpkin for the Captured Scarlet Zealot held in the cellar of Gallows' End Tavern. The zealot cried, "By the Light! Finally some food! Sweet, sweet pumpkin," and then began to whisper that he did not feel right, that his mind and flesh were rotting.

In Duskwood I also finished "An Unfortunate End." A Night Watch guard had pointed me to a Night Watchman lying mauled, with deep gashes, and I pried an unlit torch from his stiff fingers.

Day 3 · October 21, 2026

Five Falls in the Dark of Duskwood

In Brill I took up a great many requests. Executor Zygand gave me three. One was to kill ten Scarlet Warriors. One was to fetch the reports of Deathguard Dillinger, Deathguard Kristof and the abomination Gordo; he said his patience had run out. The third was to punish five Deathguards, and he asked, "Alexander, is it?" in a tone that promised a ledger. Apothecary Johaan wanted five vials of darkhound blood for a new plague, and gave me a laced pumpkin for a captured Scarlet Zealot held in the tavern cellar. Carolai Anise asked for eight bottles of Whispering Elixir from the ruins of Shadowvale. Magistrate Sevren sent me after the Rot Hide gnolls for eight Embalming Ichors.

I carried the pumpkin to the cellar and finished Fields of Grief. The Zealot cried out that he was rotting. In Duskwood I finished An Unfortunate End. The Night Watchman lay there, torn by some large beast, and I took the unlit torch from his stiff fingers.

Day 2 · October 20, 2026

From Deathknell's Graves to Undercity's Depths

Novice Elreth asked for scavenger paws and duskbat wings, and in return gave me armor. She later asked me to bury Samuel Fipps beside his wife Marla, and I did. Shadow Priest Sarvis wanted me to thin the Mindless Ones and then the Rattlecages. Aramis Hammerhand had me heal wounded Deathguard with the Light, free webbed victims in Night Web's Hollow, and find a frightened paladin in the hills. She called me a monster, and Aramis said that sometimes the best we can do is grant a clean end. I finished that grim task.

Executor Arren sent me against the spiders, then the Scarlet Crusade, then to take the messenger's papers, which showed where the Crusade's commanders sat. I carried them to Executor Zygand in Brill. Deathguard Saltain's scavenged goods, pumpkins stolen for Apothecary Johaan, gloom weed for Gordo delivered to Junior Apothecary Holland (who wanted doom weed instead), a letter for Innkeeper Renee, and Eleanor Shackleton's lesson on camping were done as well. Zygand paid the bounty on Maggot Eye. Shari Stilwell welcomed me to Brill. By evening I had taken new requests from Gretchen Dedmar and Coleman Farthing, none begun.

Day 2 · October 20, 2026

A Paladin Risen in Deathknell, Walking to Undercity

Shadow Priest Sarvis was done with me once I had thinned the Rattlecages. He said I had shown myself worthy of the freedom I'd been given. Novice Elreth wanted paws and wings for armor, and she sent me after Samuel Fipps to grant Marla's last wish. Aramis Hammerhand asked me to heal the wounded, to find a frightened paladin in the hills, and to free the webbed victims in the Hollow. The frightened paladin cried out for me to get away, and Aramis said that sometimes the best we can do is grant a clean end. Deathguard Saltain wanted scavenged goods.

Executor Arren had me kill spiders in the Hollow, then Scarlet zealots, then Meven Korgal. I carried the documents to Executor Zygand in Brill. I stole pumpkins for Apothecary Johaan and brought gloom weed from Gordo to Junior Apothecary Holland, who had no need of it and wanted doom weed instead. I delivered a letter to Innkeeper Renee. She was rude about it. I then returned the paw of Maggot Eye to Executor Zygand, who thanked me on behalf of Brill.

I also finished the tasks for Eleanor Shackleton, Shari Stilwell and William Pickman. By evening I had taken new requests from Gretchen Dedmar and Coleman Farthing, none yet done.

Day 2 · October 20, 2026

A Paladin Rises in Tirisfal Glades

Deathknell kept me busy. Shadow Priest Sarvis gave me the hunt for the Mindless Ones, then the Rattlecage Skeletons. He said I had shown myself "worthy of the freedom that you have been given." A scroll that reeked of the Light sent me to Aramis Hammerhand, who set me to healing five injured Deathguard. They flinched from a paladin's touch, and some came to thank me. Novice Elreth wanted paws and wings in return for armor, and later asked me to bury Samuel Fipps beside his wife Marla. Deathguard Saltain wanted scavenged goods.

Aramis sent me after a frightened paladin in the hills. She cried "Get away from me, monster!" when I found her, and the task ended in a clean end, not a rescue. I freed the webbed victims in Night Web's Hollow for him as well. Executor Arren had me thin the spiders, then strike at the Scarlet Crusade and kill their messenger. He found a map of their field commanders in the documents I took, and sent me to Executor Zygand in Brill with them.

In Brill there were many small errands. I stole pumpkins for Apothecary Johaan and spoke with Eleanor Shackleton, who taught me to rest by a campfire. I carried a letter for Calvin Montague to Innkeeper Renee. Gordo asked for gloom weed, and Junior Apothecary Holland wanted doom weed instead. I finished Shari Stilwell's training errand, and killed Maggot Eye for Executor Zygand.

Back at the tavern I took three more requests: Gretchen Dedmar wants five Duskbat Pelts and coarse thread, and Coleman Farthing wants the remains of the Agamands and of Devlin.

Day 2 · October 20, 2026

From Deathknell's Bells to Brill's Hearth

Many people had work for me, and I finished most of it. Shadow Priest Sarvis was satisfied with my work on the Mindless Ones. He then set me against the Rattlecages, and afterward said I had "shown yourself to be worthy of the freedom that you have been given." Novice Elreth wanted paws and bat wings and paid me in armor. She then asked me to lay Samuel Fipps to rest beside his wife Marla, and she was grateful when it was done. Aramis Hammerhand sent me to find a frightened paladin, and to free the webbed victims in the hollow. The frightened paladin cried out "Get away from me, monster!", and Aramis told me some can only be granted a clean end. Deathguard Saltain had me scavenge goods in Deathknell. Executor Arren had me thin the spiders, then sent me against the Scarlet camp, and then after the messenger, whose papers held a map of their commanders. I carried those to Executor Zygand in Brill. I stole pumpkins from the farm for Apothecary Johaan, took a letter to Innkeeper Renee, and met the adventurer Eleanor Shackleton, who taught me camping. Gordo's gloom weed only earned a laugh from Junior Apothecary Holland, who wanted doom weed instead. Shari Stilwell welcomed me to my continued training. At day's end I took on new requests in Brill from Gretchen Dedmar and Coleman Farthing, for duskbat pelts, thread, and the remains of the Agamands. Gretchen's body ached from the chill. Coleman's sorrow was old and bitter.

Day 1 · September 28, 2026

Waking in the Crypt at Deathknell

At Deathknell, Undertaker Mordo gave me my first task, called Rude Awakening. "About time you woke up," he said. By his telling, they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others, but I had made it. He is the caretaker of the crypt, and he told me I was the Lich King's slave no more. He sent me to speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.

Sarvis took my report and finished the task. He called me another of the walking dead and guessed that waking in the crypt with only the cold and Mordo had been a shock. He saw the confusion on my face and set out our situation. Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, has freed us from the Lich King's control. She now leads us in war against the Scourge and the holdouts of humanity who dog our steps.

He gave me a new task at once, The Mindless Ones. The northern part of the village is overrun with them, and he wants them destroyed without mercy, whatever they once were. I am to kill eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies.

I went down and found Sarvis, and the task was done. He called me another of the walking dead and said waking in the crypt with only the cold and Mordo to greet me must have been a shock. He explained that Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, had freed us from the Lich King and led us in war against the Scourge and the holdouts of humanity.

Waking Cold in Deathknell

Undertaker Mordo gave me my first request at Deathknell. "About time you woke up," he said, and told me they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others. He is caretaker of the crypt, and he told me I was the Lich King's slave no more. He bade me speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.

Sarvis greeted me as a paladin and said no other people on Azeroth had suffered as ours had, and that laughing in the face of death had become second nature to us. When I turned in my task, he said I must have been shocked to wake in the crypt with only the cold and Mordo for company. He explained that Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, had freed us from the Lich King's control, and that we now war against the Scourge and the holdouts of humanity who dog our steps.

Then he gave me another charge, The Mindless Ones. The north of the village is overrun, and I am to destroy eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies. He said to show them no mercy, whatever they once were, for the Fallen are only the Lich King's slaves. I have not yet begun it.

Day 1 · September 28, 2026

Waking Cold in Deathknell

Undertaker Mordo gave me the first task of my new life, called Rude Awakening. "About time you woke up," he said. He told me they had nearly tossed me into the fire with the others. He is the caretaker of the crypt of Deathknell, and he told me I am the Lich King's slave no more. His instruction was to speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.

I did, and Sarvis took my report as finished. He called me another of the walking dead and guessed how great a shock it must have been to wake in the crypt with only the cold and Mordo for company. He explained that Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, has freed us from the Lich King's control. She now leads us in the war against the Scourge and against the holdouts of humanity who dog our steps.

He then gave me a new task, The Mindless Ones. The northern part of the village is overrun, and he wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies destroyed. He asked for no mercy, since the Fallen are only the Lich King's slaves now. I have not started on it yet.

Waking Among the Forsaken at Deathknell

Undertaker Mordo gave me my first task at Deathknell, and his greeting was blunt: "About time you woke up." He named himself caretaker of the crypt, told me I was the Lich King's slave no more, and bade me speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.

He had another request ready. The northern part of the village is overrun with the Mindless Ones, our former brothers and sisters, and they must be destroyed without mercy. Sarvis wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies dead. "The Fallen," he said, are nothing but the Lich King's slaves.
