Waking Cold in Deathknell
A Forsaken paladin rises from the crypt's cold, learns he is free of the Lich King, and is sent against the Mindless Ones.
The Road
I came to myself at Shadow Grave in the pale light of dawn, and I stood a while taking in the sight of it before moving on. Not long after, I reached Deathknell, still under the same dawn, and paused again to look over the place that would be my first footing in this strange new life. By the end of the morning I had walked down to the chapel at the base of the hill.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me my first task, and it was a gruff one. "About time you woke up," he said. They had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others, but I had made it. He named himself caretaker of the crypt of Deathknell, told me I was the Lich King's slave no more, and bade me speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill. That was the whole of Rude Awakening, and I did it.
Sarvis greeted me as a paladin and said no other race had suffered as ours, and that laughing in the face of death had become second nature to us. He took me for another of the walking dead, and he guessed the confusion on my face. He explained our situation: we have been freed from the Lich King by our new leader, Lady Sylvanas, who guides us in the war against the Scourge and the holdouts of humanity who dog our every step. With that, Rude Awakening was done.
He then set me a new charge, The Mindless Ones. The northern part of the village is overrun with them, and he wants them destroyed without mercy, though they were once our brothers and sisters. I am to slay eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies. I have not yet begun.
Fellowship
Aramis Hammerhand welcomed me back to the light at the chapel and asked whether I needed training.
