Five Falls in the Duskwood Gloom
A pumpkin for a captured zealot, a flight to Stranglethorn, and a run of deaths in Duskwood's darkness before I found my way home to Brill.
Discovered Grom'gol Base Camp
The Road
I began the day before dawn in the Gallows' End Tavern, and stepped out into Brill, where the air was cold and smelled of damp earth. I looked in at the Town Hall, then rested at the tavern and again in Brill before setting off through the Glades. My road took me past the Ruins of Lordaeron, where I met Zapetta and Hin Denburg, and on by Balnir Farmstead.
From there I came to The Savage Coast and The Vile Reef in Stranglethorn Vale, and so to Grom'gol Base Camp, which I took a moment to simply look upon. I rested there, spoke with the flight master, Thysta, and learned that I could fly from that place henceforth. I then wandered the wider Stranglethorn Vale and marked it as discovered.
After I fell there (more on that below), I woke in Duskwood. I discovered the land itself, then Raven Hill, then Raven Hill Cemetery. In the end I found myself back at the Gallows' End Tavern in Tirisfal, and walked once more into Brill to rest.
Battles
It was a poor day for staying alive. Something unseen struck me down in Stranglethorn Vale, and again in Duskwood. Once more in Duskwood. Then twice more in quick succession at Raven Hill Cemetery and Raven Hill. Five times I fell into darkness in barely five minutes, and never once saw what did it.
The tallies show I did slay four creatures in all: two Cursed Darkhounds and two Greater Duskbats. After the first fall, a Spirit Healer met me and said it was not yet my time, and offered to aid my return for a price.
Deeds
In Brill, Apothecary Johaan handed me a pumpkin laced with his latest formula, meant for a Scarlet Zealot held in the cellar of the Gallows' End Tavern. "Harmless pumpkins, right?" he said. I delivered it, and the zealot cried out, "Sweet, sweet pumpkin," and then, a moment later, that his mind and flesh were rotting. I will not soon forget it. That task, Fields of Grief, is done.
In Duskwood I completed An Unfortunate End for the Night Watch Guard. A Night Watchman lay dead, covered in deep gashes, plainly mauled by some large beast. I pried an unlit torch from his stiff fingers.
I also took on many requests in Brill and left them unfinished. Executor Zygand asked me to slay ten Scarlet Warriors, to collect reports from his Deathguards, and to punish five of them for their failings. Apothecary Johaan wants five vials of darkhound blood for his new plague. Carolai Anise wants eight bottles of Whispering Elixir from Shadowvale. Magistrate Sevren wants eight Embalming Ichors taken from the Rot Hide gnolls.
Fellowship
I walked alone today. Executor Zygand greeted me with a speech on the Scarlet Crusade, and Zapetta asked that I bring her something to eat from Orgrimmar if I came back by zeppelin. In Duskwood, Stitches and Watcher Cutford both shouted into the dark, though I understood none of it. Nurse Neela offered to teach me First Aid when I returned to Brill.
Spoils & Craft
From the dead Night Watchman I took a Night Watchman's Torch, an uncommon find, which should help me see what darkness hides.
