Waking in the Crypt at Deathknell
A Forsaken paladin rises at dawn, learns he is free of the Lich King, and receives his first charge against the Mindless Ones.
The Road
The day began at dawn in Shadow Grave, where I stopped a moment to take in the view of Tirisfal Glades. A few minutes later I came down to Deathknell, and paused there too, the cold air of the place settling on my bones.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me my first task at Deathknell. "About time you woke up," he said, and told me they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others. He is the caretaker of the crypt, and he told me I was the Lich King's slave no more. I was to speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.
Sarvis took my report of the waking and called me another of the walking dead. He tried to ease my confusion. The Forsaken, he said, have been freed from the Lich King by Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, who leads them in a war against the Scourge and the holdouts of humanity. That finished Rude Awakening.
He then gave me The Mindless Ones. The northern part of the village is overrun, and he wants them destroyed without mercy: eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies. Sarvis called them nothing but the Lich King's slaves.
Fellowship
Sarvis greeted me as a paladin and said no other race on Azeroth has suffered as much as ours. To laugh in the face of death, he said, has become second nature to us all. Afterward Aramis Hammerhand welcomed me back to the light and asked whether I needed training.
