Waking in the Crypt at Deathknell
I woke free of the Lich King's chains, met a caretaker and a priest, and was handed my first grim duty among the Forsaken.
The Road
Dawn light lay thin and grey over Tirisfal Glades when I first took in the place called Shadow Grave. I stood a while and simply looked. A few minutes later I came to Deathknell and paused again to let the sight settle in me. Cold air, old stone, and the quiet of a village that has seen too much.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo was the first to speak to me. "About time you woke up," he said, and told me they had nearly tossed me into the fire with the others. He named himself caretaker of the crypt of Deathknell, told me I was the Lich King's slave no more, and sent me to speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill. This task was called Rude Awakening, and rude it was.
Sarvis received me and the task was done. He called me another of the walking dead and spoke of the shock of waking in the crypt with only the cold and Mordo for company. He explained that Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, has freed us from the Lich King and leads us in war against the Scourge and the humans who dog our steps.
He gave me another charge at once: The Mindless Ones. The northern part of the village is overrun, and I am to destroy eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies, showing no mercy to what were once our brothers and sisters. I have not yet begun.
Fellowship
Sarvis greeted me as a paladin and said no other people on Azeroth have suffered as much as ours, and that laughing in the face of death has become second nature to us. Aramis Hammerhand also welcomed me back to the light and asked if I needed training. I made no reply that I can set down.
Growth
Aramis offered me training, a sign that there are skills waiting for me when I choose to take them up.
