From Deathknell's Graves to Undercity's Depths
A newly risen paladin finds the light again, scours spiders and Scarlet zealots from Tirisfal, and walks down into the great city beneath Lordaeron.
Discovered Night Web's Hollow
The Road
I began before dawn in Deathknell, among the graves and the quiet church. By the time the sky paled I had gone northwest to Night Web's Hollow, and back again. Then the road led me through Tirisfal Glades: the Solliden Farmstead, Cold Hearth Manor, Stillwater Pond, and at last Brill, with its tavern, Gallows' End. North of Brill lay Garren's Haunt, and I went there too.
Later I passed the Ruins of Lordaeron and descended into Undercity. I wandered the Trade Quarter, the Canals, the War Quarter, the Sewers, the Apothecarium, the Rogues' Quarter and the Magic Quarter, and came up again by the Ruins. At Gallows' End I set my hearthstone, so the tavern is home now.
Battles
The day was mostly killing. In Deathknell I put down mindless zombies, wretched ones and rattlecage skeletons, a baker's dozen of the skeletons in all. In Night Web's Hollow I cut through sixteen Night Web Spiders and ten of their young. Southeast, I fought a dozen Scarlet Converts and a few Initiates, and at their camp I killed Meven Korgal, the messenger, who cried that the Crusade would not fail in its mission. Duskbats, scavengers, darkhounds and Rot Hide gnolls fell too, among them Maggot Eye near Garren's Haunt. A hundred and two foes in all. I did not fall.
Deeds
Novice Elreth asked for scavenger paws and duskbat wings, and in return gave me armor. She later asked me to bury Samuel Fipps beside his wife Marla, and I did. Shadow Priest Sarvis wanted me to thin the Mindless Ones and then the Rattlecages. Aramis Hammerhand had me heal wounded Deathguard with the Light, free webbed victims in Night Web's Hollow, and find a frightened paladin in the hills. She called me a monster, and Aramis said that sometimes the best we can do is grant a clean end. I finished that grim task.
Executor Arren sent me against the spiders, then the Scarlet Crusade, then to take the messenger's papers, which showed where the Crusade's commanders sat. I carried them to Executor Zygand in Brill. Deathguard Saltain's scavenged goods, pumpkins stolen for Apothecary Johaan, gloom weed for Gordo delivered to Junior Apothecary Holland (who wanted doom weed instead), a letter for Innkeeper Renee, and Eleanor Shackleton's lesson on camping were done as well. Zygand paid the bounty on Maggot Eye. Shari Stilwell welcomed me to Brill. By evening I had taken new requests from Gretchen Dedmar and Coleman Farthing, none begun.
Fellowship
For a short while a Forsaken warrior joined me near Garren's Haunt, then left. I thanked them. In the Ruins of Lordaeron I fell in with a few travelers talking of horror tales and shows. I said I loved one of them dearly, and made a poor jest about another.
Spoils & Craft
Novice Elreth gave me armor for my trouble, and a manual that taught me Mining, Smelting and how to smelt copper. William Pickman taught me Cooking, and a Basic Campfire with it. Later I learned Crispy Bat Wing. In Undercity, Basil Frye taught me Blacksmithing and I learned Fishing from Armand Cromwell. Back at the tavern I learned First Aid and linen bandages.
Growth
I grew stronger many times over. Aramis Hammerhand taught me Devotion Aura, Holy Light, Judgement and Blessing of Might, and later Divine Protection, Holy Strike and the Seal of the Crusader. My skill with two-handed maces, with maces, and my defense all improved through the day's fighting.
