Waking Cold in Deathknell
A Forsaken paladin rises at dawn, meets a gruff undertaker and a shadow priest, and learns who now holds the leash.
The Road
The dawn found me in Shadow Grave, in the Tirisfal Glades, and I stood a while taking in the grey light and the stillness of the place. A few minutes on I came to Deathknell and paused again to look it over. The cold there does not bother me anymore, which is its own strange news.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me the first task of my new life, called Rude Awakening. "About time you woke up," he said. He told me they had nearly tossed me into the fire with the others. He is the caretaker of the crypt of Deathknell, and he told me I am the Lich King's slave no more. His instruction was to speak with Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.
I did, and Sarvis took my report as finished. He called me another of the walking dead and guessed how great a shock it must have been to wake in the crypt with only the cold and Mordo for company. He explained that Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, has freed us from the Lich King's control. She now leads us in the war against the Scourge and against the holdouts of humanity who dog our steps.
He then gave me a new task, The Mindless Ones. The northern part of the village is overrun, and he wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies destroyed. He asked for no mercy, since the Fallen are only the Lich King's slaves now. I have not started on it yet.
Fellowship
Sarvis greeted me as "paladin" and said that to laugh in the face of death has become second nature to all of us. As I left, Aramis Hammerhand welcomed me back to the light and asked whether I needed training.
