Waking Among the Dead at Deathknell

A mage wakes cold in a crypt, is told she is free of the Lich King, and promptly begins cutting down the Mindless Ones.

The Road

I woke into the grey midday of Tirisfal Glades, among the graves of Shadow Grave, and found my feet carrying me to Deathknell. The place was new to me, and I stood a moment taking it in before anything else claimed my attention.

Battles

The northern part of the village was thick with the Mindless Ones, and I set about the work with a will. By the end I had put down eleven of them: seven Mindless Zombies, three Wretched Zombies, and a single Rattlecage Skeleton. The count falls short of what Sarvis asked for, so that work is not yet done.

Deeds

Undertaker Mordo was the first to speak to me. "About time you woke up," he said, and told me they had been ready to toss me into the fire with the others. He named himself caretaker of the crypt, said I was the Lich King's slave no more, and sent me down to Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill.

Sarvis said that the walking dead were not new to him, and that waking in a crypt with only the cold and Mordo for company must have been a shock. He explained that Lady Sylvanas had freed us from the Lich King, and that the Dark Lady leads us in a war against the Scourge and the holdouts of humanity. That finished my first task, Rude Awakening.

He then gave me another, The Mindless Ones. The north of the village is overrun, and he wants eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies destroyed, with no mercy shown to what were once our brothers and sisters. I have started, but I have not finished.

Fellowship

Sarvis greeted me as a mage and said that no other people on Azeroth have suffered as we have, and that laughing in the face of death has become second nature to us. Later Isabella, a trainer of undead mages, greeted me in her turn. I walked alone otherwise.

Growth

Somewhere amid the fighting I felt a new strength settle into me, and I was stronger than when I woke. Isabella then taught me Arcane Intellect. My skill at defense and with the staff both improved a little, to five apiece.
