Waking Among the Dead at Deathknell
A new Forsaken mage rises in the crypt, learns who freed her, and cuts down eleven of the mindless dead before learning a new spell.
The Road
I came to myself at Shadow Grave and found the way out to Deathknell, a village of the Forsaken in Tirisfal Glades. The air was cold and the light weak, though it was midday. I stopped a moment to take in the sight of the place before going further.
Battles
The northern part of the village was overrun with the Mindless Ones, and I went at them with what I had. By day's end I had put down eleven foes in the glades: seven Mindless Zombies, three Wretched Zombies and a single Rattlecage Skeleton. They were slow and hollow, and I felt little for them. I will not pretend it was nothing to strike down what had once been people.
Deeds
Undertaker Mordo gave me my first task. His greeting was gruff: "About time you woke up." He told me I was the Lich King's slave no more, and sent me to Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at the base of the hill. Sarvis took my report and explained the Forsaken's situation. We have been freed from the Lich King by Lady Sylvanas, the Dark Lady, who leads us against the Scourge and the humans who hound us. He then set me a second task, called The Mindless Ones. I am to destroy eight Mindless Zombies and eight Wretched Zombies, and he asked that I show them no mercy. I have not finished it. I have killed seven of the first kind and three of the second, so more remain.
Fellowship
I travelled alone. The only voices were the dead who had a purpose: Mordo, Sarvis, and later Isabella, who greeted me plainly as a mage trainer and called me a mage.
Growth
Somewhere in the fighting I felt a new strength settle in me. Isabella, the undead mage trainer, then taught me Arcane Intellect. My skill at defense and with the staff each rose a little as well, a reward for taking blows and swinging my staff.
