A Short Rest at Camp Narache

A brief, merry hour at Camp Narache, with a few jokes, a dance, and a quiet look from the heights of Red Cloud Mesa.

The Road

The midday sun hung over Camp Narache when I set down my pack, and I did not stay long in one spot. I wandered up to Red Cloud Mesa and paused there to take in the view. The grass rolled away beneath the wind, and I felt glad to have found the place. Before the day was done I came back down to Camp Narache.

Fellowship

There was no one to share it with, so I made my own cheer. Three times I told a joke to the open air, and then I burst into dance, hooves stamping the dust. A shaman may be solemn with the spirits, but a good laugh does no harm.
